History Coffee in Indonesia

Coffee in Indonesia has a long history and an important role for the growth of the economy and even culture in Indonesia. Geography and climate of Indonesia is very good for the growth and production of coffee (Arabica & Robusta type) making Indonesia one of the world's coffee exporting country today.
The word "coffee" itself comes from the Arabic "qahwah" which means strength. The word "qahwah" was later adopted by the Turks to "kahveh" and then to "koffie" in the Dutch language. Along with the Dutch colonial presence in Indonesia, the word "koffie" was gradually absorbed into the Indonesian language to "coffee", finally to the current Indonesian people call it "coffee". 
History of Coffee in Indonesia allegedly originated from the story of Muslim pilgrims returning from the Middle East brought coffee beans to India in early 1600. Later in 1696, the Dutch Governor of Malabar sending seeds or Coffee Arabica Coffee Yemen to the Dutch governor at Batavia, but the first to be sent Arabica seedlings failed to grow because of severe flooding hit Batavia. Then the second delivery done back in 1699. Arabica coffee seed from the second shipment is apparently thriving, and finally in 1711, the first exsport sent from Java to Europe by the East India Trading, known as VOCs (Verininging Oogst-Indies Company). In the 10 years of Indonesian coffee exports rose Up to 60 tons per year, but the VOC managed to monopolize the coffee trade in Indonesia since the year 1725 until 1780.
